Cumberland is a county located in central Virginia, United states. The county is bordered by Powhatan county to the north, Amelia county to the east, Buckingham county to the south and Goochland county to the west. The county seat of Cumberland is the town of Cumberland. Cumberland county covers a total area of 297 square miles, of which 296.5 square miles is land and 0.5 square miles is water. The county is divided into five magisterial districts, namely Cartersville, Cumberland, District One, District Two and District Three. Cumberland is known for its rich history, rural landscapes and natural resources, including extensive forests, water resources, wildlife and recreational opportunities. Cumberland is also home to many historic sites, including the Cumberland courthouse historic district, the Cumberland county museum and archives, and the Cumberland county civil war sites.
